Happy Memorial Day! Camp is in full swing for our second day of classes. We woke up to the promise of rain this morning after a very restful evening. The weather forecast calls for rain today and tomorrow, which is no surprise. We are not getting the full force of Albero’s tropical storm rains, but it is lightly raining and the ground is saturated, therefore we are under flash flood warnings. Fortunately, we are on high ground and not at risk. The lake will rise (it is about a foot high now, and might go as high as 3 feet), but we just access the water from the higher shoreline. This has been a recurring condition for the 99 years that Greystone has existed. Some of the most memorable stories of camp are the years that we had flooding and were able to canoe over the canoe docks and lower pageant court!
Last night was SUCH FUN!! The campers were the stars on stage and as you can see by the pictures, they were dressed for the show. Bananas, Hot Dogs, French Fries, Disco Queens, Princesses, and more….we loved how cute they were, and there were lots of smiles and laughter. Tonight will be the Counselor talent show which the girls love. We had planned Carnival, but have moved it to Wednesday when the rains will be tapering off.
For dinner last night we had Tacos in a Bag….or Supper in a Sack (as some call it) which is also a Greystone favorite, Salad bar, and Oreo pie. Breakfast this morning was fruit bar, scrambled eggs, bacon, and hash browns. The girls also get an apple during 3rd period. Apple Cart is a such fun with Smith and Beth! The cart drives around camp to all the classes and the girls can have an apple if they like. Ice Huts are also around camp and girls can get ice, fill water bottles and have a snack of string cheese or Beanito Chips if they get hungry.
It is hard to believe we are already in our 3rd day of camp. The girls are singing songs in the dining hall like they have been here the whole summer. They know their way around camp and are finding their classes with ease. We are having a grand time and loving your precious daughters!
