Reformed University Fellowship is a college ministry serving students all over the country. We are blessed at Greystone to have our ministers lead RUF during the school year and then spend their summers at Greystone. We also have the privilege of hosting the RUF Fall Conferences every year. This year we have 3 big conferences coming to Greystone for the weekend. The students worship in the pavilion and hear from dynamic speakers. They also get to enjoy our climbing wall, canoes and big slide.
Our June Camp minister, Simon Stokes was with us last weekend. He is the RUF minister at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill. He brought 38 students who joined others from Furman, NC State and Meredith. Simon Says, “My students were blown away by the sense of rest and peace that pervades the atmosphere of Greystone. So often they are busy and over-committed, but Greystone in the Fall is always a highlight for them. The tranquil lake framed by the nearby mountains, along with the care of the Greystone staff, create the perfect setting to get away to enjoy great friends and good Christ-centered teaching in one of the loveliest spots in the state. I was taking to a senior guy today about his experience with the weekend, and this is what he said, ‘Before going to Greystone and hearing the speaker, I think that it would have been much harder for me to admit how sinful I really am and how much I need God’s grace in Jesus. But after the weekend, I can see the ways that I perform for God and others and pretend that I’m better than I am. I can see more of my sin, but also more of the cross, and I’m so grateful for my time there!’”
Jonathan Davis, our Main Camp Minister, is coming with his students from The University of Kentucky this weekend. He expects to bring about 30 students who will join others from Duke, Winthrop, UNCC, Johnson & Wales, Carson-Newman, College of Charleston, Wofford and Erskine. One of Jonathan’s students recently said, “Fall Conference at Camp Greystone two years ago was one of the most impactful weekends I’ve had in college. I grew in my faith, I had an amazing weekend in the mountains of North Carolina, and I built friendships with other students in RUF. I knew RUF would be home for me after that weekend.”
Our final weekend will be the biggest with about 400 students coming from App State, Wake Forest, Davidson, Washington & Lee, Clemson, Western Carolina and the University of Virginia. We are thankful to share our beautiful camp with this tremendous ministry. Lots of our summer counselors are involved in RUF on their campuses and it’s so much fun to see them at Fall Conference. We will be praying for our ministers, their students and all those coming to camp that God will bless them in a mighty way! We love RUF and our RUF Ministers!
