Each spring, we find the perfect puppies that love spending their summer with Greystone girls. From labs to golden retrievers to schnoodles, you never know what we might have this summer. Learn how to care for a puppy, give her a bath, teach her tricks, and even have a canine fashion show! It won’t take long for you to fall in love with our sweet pups this summer.
Looking to put on your farm girl hat and play with the animals? Join us at Greystone’s very own Barnyard! Meet our goats, donkey, Highland cows, minature pony, babydoll sheep, chickens, pigs, rabbits, and more as you experience a day at the farm. Learn to care for these wonderful camp animals and experience farm-living in our Farm Barn class!
What about growing and cooking your own fresh vegetables? Our Garden area is overflowing with wonderful things to plant and eat. You can grow many different types of fruits and vegetables in our 100-foot raised gardening beds. We then use that food in our very own Greystone kitchen to cook for our campers, furthering Greystone’s sustainable efforts. From okra to tomatoes to flowers and more, grab your gardening gloves and we will see you in the dirt.
The connection between a girl and a horse — her smile, his whinny, their partnership — it’s what we see every day in our Riding program. We want to cultivate that relationship from the moment you join us at Thunderhead Ranch, so we focus on comprehensive horsemanship rooted in a deep love of horses. As you prepare your horse and care for it throughout the day, you will revel in every aspect of equine care. Campers can be silly, have fun, and form a unique bond with their favorite horse.
Our Thunderhead Ranch experience allows campers to enjoy the best of our Riding program in a Western format as girls experience life as a cowgirl for the day. Much like visiting a ranch out West, your day at Thunderhead Ranch will start with having your very own horse and getting to know him as you tack up for the ride. You’ll explore our expanded mountain trails together and then cool off by playing in the river. Riders at our longer sessions will also have the chance to try activities that are only available at the Ranch: gold mining, lassoing, teepee building, and more! Every day at the Ranch will look slightly different and will be tailored to the skills and interests of the riders there.
The Greystone horses are the best in the business! With years of camp experience, they are friendly, safe, and love their job. Their gentle demeanors allow campers to grow in confidence and have fun as girls learn to master skills independently. Walk around our Thunderhead property and you’ll see lots of perked ears and happy snorts – our horses love the Greystone campers, and they love them right back.
Riding is an extra camp activity that you can add on to your schedule once you are enrolled. Riding forms will be available in the spring with the remainder of the Online Forms. To find out more about session-specific Riding options, visit our Riding page.
